Owned and developed by Ken Allison and his family, long-time residents and commercial nurserymen in the valley, the comprehensive facilities of Transylvania County Airport are open to the public despite receiving no capital or operating support from public funds.  For your information, a number of locals (including several of the Asheville Airport controllers) also refer to the facility as the Penrose airport.

The modern FBO building features a comfortable lounge, break room, and pilot briefing room including satellite weather service.

The facility is manned every day except Christmas and New Year's Day by Airport Manager Randy Bagby and his staff. Winter hours are from 0830 until sunset while summer hours are from 0830 until 1900. You'll find our Unicom frequency of 122.7 available for airport advisories during these hours, as well as all the services you'd expect from a quality FBO including assistance with car rentals and advice on how to make your stay in our beautiful mountains even more enjoyable.

Be sure to follow the links on the right to more information on visiting our airport and the surrounding neighborhood. In the Flying Directions to 22W section section you'll find an Atlanta Sectional Chart view of the Asheville/Brevard/Hendersonville area as well as aerial photos of Transylvania Airport including a depiction of the preferred arrival and departure routes to help us reduce the impact on our neighbors. You'll also find driving directions to and from Brevard, Hendersonville, and Asheville.
